Two Stage Control Rocket

SRL’s Two Stage Control Rocket vehicle combines numerous aspects of some of the most technically rigorous projects undertaken by the club. The staged vehicle is designed to maintain active control over its orientation through the use of a cold gas thruster system and actuated canards. Each of these three technologies; staging, cold gas control, and aerodynamic control, were developed and tested individually during the 2019-2020 year and made their way onto the Aero Control and Two Stage vehicles. We are confident the Two Stage Control Vehicle will eventually be capable of reaching the Karman line, and are looking forward to its continued iteration. Its development requires students to learn and exercise knowledge of dynamics, control theory, and numerous other subjects.
